– Becoming quite hot in Tokyo when I visited. <\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n
\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

This blogpost covers the day of April 20th, 2023 in Tokyo (Ueno), Yokosuka, and Kamakura.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Today I planned to revisit both Yokosuka and Kamakura for some forgotten plans and situations. I was suggested to visit some areas, something I’ve considered, eventually only picking the easier ones thanks to how much time I had left in my trip.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Woke up at 8 AM, made myself ready, and ventured to Shinagawa Station (9:35 AM). Eventually made it to Yokosuka-Chou at 10:40 AM for stamps. My plan was to visit Yokosuka Curry (as noted the previous day with Yokosuka Duck), and to then capture all the missed landmarks from the prior visits.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

– I noticed something interesting in this general area. A station chime, announcement, scenery, or something along those lines.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

– Pokemon GO is a neat way of finding landmarks to check out. I should use Pokemon GO more often in Japan to find hidden landmarks.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

– I genuinely admired the thin transit line the train takes between buildings. The overly narrow perspective really caught my attention, and how fast the trains travel through from one neighborhood to the next. Japan is awesome in that regard.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

I initially noted how Yokosuka looks rough thanks to the American presence. Maybe that’s true, maybe it isn’t. I still admire Yokosuka regardless. Yokosuka is Yokosuka, and it’s neat. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Basically put, Yokosuka simply has a military vibe to it for obvious reasons.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Yokosuka Navy Curry Hanpo Restaurant:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

I was here from between 11 AM to 12 PM, all because of KanColle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We talked briefly while showing them how I was shown this restaurant. There was some slight curiousity, though everything was kept professional, or even “disconnected”. They now knew other Japanese friendly folks guided me around Japan with KanColle stuff. \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n\n\n\n

– Following Google Maps in how to reach a certain lookout point nearby. I even briefly took a wrong turn, eventually making the proper way after a quick correction. I also had a female passerby roaming around, nothing special. Just a note.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

– I 100% admire views like these. It’s what I’m used to from Anime and video games, this however is glorious to see in person. Nothing beats something seen in the real world.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

Similar to Enoshima Island, the stairs here nearly murdered me. I was decently winded, yet kept pushing forward. I kept going up the stairs, up and around, and to where I needed to go on an decently hot day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

– Korekkiri-Zaka (Never-Again Slope). Yokosuka has some overly amazing cramped locations. You can see a few of those in this Google maps, yet you won’t realize what I’m speaking of. Hidden pathways weaving through buildings, up into parks, and etc. Urban-Rural type implementations.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

After doing a funky U turn (Up and around) I finally arrived at my next destination.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Heiwa Central Park – Observatory Park:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

A two-for-one park visiting it for its views of the town, and even to see its historical significance. The place even doubles as a neat park. I mean, that’s in the name. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

I wanted to finally use my 360 camera again realizing I hadn’t charged it since I last used it. Battery was dead. I had to use my phone’s panorama mode to capture a 360 view of the area. A guy was also sleeping in the corner forcing me to avoid him. I was disappointed about my 360 camera being low on battery. I tried charging via power bank, that never worked out.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At this point I was unknowingly racing another foreigner going the other way. I would find out both ways were equally as fast, though I had a more fun route. I took the better route. \ud83d\ude09<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The other foreigner I was indirectly racing with made it to where I was heading, even loosely heading to where I was going. We eventually split ways, with me heading down another “slope”. A road going downhill passing by a McDonalds.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mikasa Shopping Plaza:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

It would take me a long while before I realized why Mikasa is special here. I was venturing around, and eventually through a mall dedicated specifically to Mikasa (the museum ship). Azur Lane managed to take advantage of this situation sooner than the more “slothful” KanColle developers. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

To be fully clear, I’m not badmouthing, just saying it as how I’m seeing it. I respect KanColle, hence why I visited numerous KanColle locations. <\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Look at all the Azur Lane stuff! Japanese folks are more into KanColle because it’s of Japanese origin while Azur Lane is Chinese. Azur Lane is taking over KanColle’s territorial turf thanks to the KanColle developers becoming “lazy”, and “prideful”. According to the ‘7 deadly sins’ the KanColle developers suffer from ‘Greed’, ‘pride’, and ‘sloth’ allowing Azur Lane to fill in the voids KanColle themselves refuse to tend to. The Japanese prefer to support their home team, and I don’t blame them. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

As a Canadian I would desire to support anything Canadian, that goes 100% for the Japanese. They’re more nationally proud then we stupid Canadians are of our own nationality. We’re constantly instructed to hate ourselves, even to the point of homelessness, suicide, and fake political nonsense. Even failing to understand our main gender. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

I admire both Azur Lane and KanColle equally, it’s sadly however a case of KanColle becoming painfully prideful preventing me from playing their game without third-party tools and VPNS while Azur Lane is an pick-up & play game. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Having been rejected I slowly, yet quietly made my way back to the Mikasa Plaza to see what else I had missed in the area. Myself and the poor lady who had to deal with me were both confused and lost. Or maybe just me. I simply felt slightly defeated, yet mostly confused. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Amusingly entered the platform through the gateway, even seeing other fellow foreigners. We looked at one another in weird amusement while I quietly chuckled to myself at how I had overly memorial moments in Japan. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Saw my train pull up, even having to walk a bit to where I needed to go. I had to avoid the ‘Green Cars’, or those double-decker type cars. I simply followed people, maybe even walking back a few cars. Found a quiet corner, leaned back, and saw the view as it passed by. No seat was available, to which I had to stand. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

An Anime friend I had befriended via Danny Choo’s community site (prior to its internal destruction) showed me where his name came from. Ken_Works on Twitter\/X with his name having come from this temple in Kamakura. – What neat thing I heard was the chanting when I was following the building on the outer-side of the structure on the right side of the picture. <\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

As requested, we took off our shoes to make our way around the area. Near the end of it I became agitated with other people taking images of everything after seeing a “no picture” sign, though I shouldn’t be a Karen in Japan. One person (probably a Korean; In the above image) noted my annoyance. He became hesitant. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Let’s just say I suffer from the same symptoms as the Japanese now of “overtourism” where I simply desire to enjoy what is around me, not other foreigners. I was becoming highly cranky of seeing other foreigners, even of the Asian kind taking pictures of absolutely everything. In hindsight even I feel I took half the amount I would have normally taken. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

I needed to distance myself from other “over-tourism” foreigners. Back to Japan itself.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When it comes to the Japanese itself I love it how formally polite they are. Foreigners are different, and I hate them for their crudeness. I admire the way Japanese apologize, even allowing you to take pictures of everything.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As someone who has retail experience stupid people (of the brazen kind) intentionally do not read signs. They even brazenly (rudely) throw signs to the side, and act as if they own everything. Those people need to be shot. Thankfully people in Japan have been “mostly” respectful. This sign simply made me more curious as to what was hiding in this area.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Satsified, I decided it was time to double back and leave to Enoshima Island. Sadly, I would miss out on some more gems in this temple, such as ‘Unryuu’ design on the ceiling of one of the temples. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
