A Japanese friend I befriended in Japan in 2023 sent me KanColle & Japanese themed gifts. The gifts of good will was safely received on September 3rd, 2024. I frustratingly delayed blogging about his gift for various reasons, but excuses are not well received. I blame my work; I became fully aware (once more) I shouldn’t die for my work, and I should care more for those who have chosen to lend an ear to me, such as Tori-san, and every other Japanese and good-willed Western folks. I need to care more about those who have chosen to befriend me, in whatever form they’ve chosen, and not my work which takes things for granted by throwing people under the bus at a sneezing notice. I thank Tori-san, even if it’s still belated, for sending me gifts relating to both KanColle and Gion Festival. It’s why I sent Canadian themed gifts in return to show appreciation. I would happily send gifts back, the situation however has to allow for such. I was overly thankful I was able to safely pick up the package, securing it at my workplace at a nearby Canada Post Office in the area. It sat safely at my temporary place of residence (friend’s place) since September 3rd, 2024.
I thank Tori-san kindly, as I’ve shown by sending gifts back to both him, and to also allow the other half of his gifts to be forwarded over to Kure, Japan to other KanColle Admirals. Even to the ‘Y’s Cafe’ owner, and friends. It’s a gift mainly for Tori-san, but it was also a good-will gesture to send to anybody else who desired to partake in the gifts I sent in return. Everything was in good standing locally (Ottawa, Canada, & Canada Post) then, allowing me to send presents back to those who chose to show me their respect – Kindness with kindness. 😉
(Side-note: I also have gifts waiting to be sent to Y’s Cafe, my situation however won’t allow it. I desire to, if allowed, I shall send my second half of my respect to Japan’s good will to Kure, Japan, whenever situation allows and improves. I also can’t allow myself to go into 2026 without paying my respect to Tori-san, that would be insulting otherwise. I have to respect those who have chosen to respect me. I have to make note of Japan’s good will in 2025, no further.)
Thank you! It genuinely means a lot to me, even if I haven’t shown my respect in full. It genuinely means a lot. Every time I see KanColle related material it always makes me happy, even if I’m an Azur Lane oriented “Admiral“, as they say. Anything KanColle always cheers me up – Pixiv, YouTube videos, models, figures, etc. Everything.
‘Commander’ is for Azur Lane and ‘Admiral’ for KanColle.
I sadly can’t play KanColle as I used to, too salty of a gameplay. The developers took things for granted, refusing to branch out as Azur Lane and Blue Archive have done, but I still do admire KanColle. Yes, even if I do not show it in various ways I still authentically admire KanColle. I’m frustrated with how much KanColle hates me in an indirect manner for simply being a foreigner. A Canadian foreigner, but that doesn’t matter.
I admire KanColle’s Warspite more than Azur Lane’s Warspite, hence why I also had a big smile once I saw the Warspite pen (shown further below).
I apologize for my ignorance (I’m not Japanese), but I do admire the general vibes, sights, and sounds relating to these events. It’s awesome seeing these displays rattle, perform, manoeuvre, and be moved around. It’s genuinely an awesome sight to behold, hence why it’s used a lot in VRChat worlds, in various indie and AAA Japanese games, and Anime. It’s a highly sacred, soothing vibe. To admire Japan one has to also admire these festivals. It’s a right-of-passage, type thing.
I may not be able to fully comprehend it, but I do appreciate the few aspects I can actually comprehend of it.

I had a genuine laugh when I saw the breast squeeze. So random, yet so Japanese, in a wholesome Japanese manner. I admire the way Japanese authors weave and insert various real-world attachments into their doujinishi making them more “magical”, more attractive, and more heartfelt. Their various trips around Japan, the way they make note of their towns, and what they find precious. I’ve only seen the Japanese pull off their genuine honesty and admiration, hence why these KanColle doujinshi (and others) come off as relatable. You can relate to each other. You can connect with both the hobby and the author, as it should be.
That’s exactly what I’m talking about. The various pictures of their main area, of where they’ve been, and how they portray things. It’s like a dream; highly sentimental, respective areas. I admire how these are weaved into each and every doujinshi, whether it be SFW or NSFW. You can authentically connect with these authors on a more human level, not a robotic one. You can actually see where they’re coming from, what they admire, and how they admire it.

Yeah, I shall cherish each and every item, as I’ve already been doing, by keeping them protected. Had everything stored away “neatly”. Can’t openly display things seeing as how I’m in a dire situation still, but I can at least admire it in spirit when it’s stored away safely in a box.
Gemini surprises me at times when it makes note of how it is aware of ‘Mizuhiki’, that really caught me off guard. I constantly (on a daily basis) still wish Japan the best.
I absolutely admire KanColle’s Warspite! I disapprove of Azur Lane’s Warspite, prefering a more refined, more elegant take of Warspite, as KanColle has displayed. I also have a Nendoroid of KanColle’s Warspite, something I would have accidentally purchased a duplicate of in Osaka, Japan in 2023 when Tori-san and myself went KanColle store diving. We visited every store handling KanColle. I’m thankful I didn’t purchase a secondary Warspite Nendo. I digress.
Thank you!

Azur Lane’s Warspite [Wiki source] isn’t appealing to me. She doesn’t call out to me in the way KanColle’s Warspite does. She’s far more regal, classy, elegant, and refined in KanColle, and I admire her so much more in KanColle. If KanColle Admirals can boast about anything over Azur Lane, it’s that Warspite and Saratoga are both better in KanColle.
I sadly can’t display it. I don’t have a house of my own, but I can hold onto it, cherishing it safely.

I once again profusely apologize for my tardiness with documenting this special gift by Tori-san [@tori308179937]. He’s shown me an interesting side of Japan, if more so from an Otaku and KanColle side. Shown me how to pray at an Osaka shrine, if done poorly. It’s thanks to him I had a mostly memorable time in Japan, and some of it outside of Japan. His perspectives of Japan allows me to stay grounded, even if it may not appear as such, allowing me to see Japan from angles I wouldn’t otherwise be able to.

Sorry, and thank you! I can now rest easy knowing I’ve documented his gifts in the way he also made note of. I noted the author’s Twitter/X links, I’ve noted what the charm is called, and I also noted extra stuff we both desired to make note of, and what he has provided to me to share. I’ve thought about this on a daily basis since September 3rd, 2024. I can now rest easy now knowing I felt I’ve done this documenting of gifts in my preferred blogging style. Not rushed, not half-assed, but in a decent “fun” and festive blogging style overlapping with 2025 Christmas.
I’ll always admire Japan.
