Tenko Kuugen – PVC

Acquired Tenkp Kuugen PVC on Monday and reviewing it today (Wednesday).  Even though I’m aware of it’s bad reputation of leaning, I just needed something to remember my favorite fox Anime with – Wagaya no Oinari-sama. She happened to be the only one left in stock so I swiftly grabbed her. Since this has probably been reviewed on other blogs I guess we can say “better late then ever” heh.

I obtained the last Tenko Kuugen at HobbyLinkJapan. I doubt you can get your Tenko from there as I probably caused it to go “discontinued“, ah well. Try other Anime figure buying sites? Just don’t buy her from other figure collectors as you may end up getting a leaning Tenko Kuugen. I mean, you can but just be extremely cautious of who you buy her from.

For those that have lurked on my blog since 2008 would probably be scratch their noggin as to why I bought a non-articulated figure. Like I said in the intro, I obtained Tenko Kuugen for my love for the Anime and because there weren’t other great figure choices to choose from. If anything, I’d probably be one of the first to pre-order Tenko Kuugen Figma/Mobip the first chance I’d probably hear about it. Same would go for Holo from Spice and Wolf.

Second Ending:

Tenko Kuugen is a dual-gendered fox who assists with guarding the main characters. S/he personality is that of a wise, yet spoiled child. In his male form he behaves all bad-ass and wise, while his female personality is that of a spoiled kid like behavior. When not being mischievous, Tenko would combat those willing to harm those he is sworn to protect.

Box View:

The box is quite attractive for something that came out a few years ago. The front has a nice 2D image cropped onto it. The sides (left and right) are pretty much the same in a mirror image style. The back of the box resembles that of Figma box with how you should pose. Sadly Tenko can’t move since she doesn’t have any articulated joints :(.

The top of the box was “slightly” damaged from the transport. Nothing to worry about!

Figure view:

Tenko Kuugen looks like she’s ready to seduce someone…..

Oh right, uh….she comes with a piece of paper, herself, a base, and her fan. Her body is in three parts (upper torso, lower torso and legs, and the skirt) so that gives us five parts for the figure.

The plastic is quite stiff and seems to be one of those cheap PVC kinds. That’s probably a given though….

Her fan clips on with ease onto her…uh…kimono? I hope I’m right.

Now lets have a nice spin around the figure!

Damn, I would be one of the first purchase a Tenko Kuugen Figma or Mobip figure. Would anybody get the Figma/Mobip if it was ever released?

Pros:

– Great quality and appears to be faithful to it’s Anime & Manga counterparts.
– Great detail on the face, fan, and on the ribbons. Even her Kimono has some nice red and white detailing.
– limited options to “customize your figure. You can choose to have her skirt on or off. For my situation, I left her skirt on since people enter my room and because it supposedly helps counteract the leaning. The fan can be put into her arms if you so desire.

Cons:

– She is known to be a very serious leaner.
– The quality is a bit disappointing (probably because I have to many figures and a slow growing number in Shinki’s). I’m probably figure quality spoiled….

Thanks for viewing/reading! I hope you enjoyed the Anime and also love the figures.

For those that are into Fox spirits or humanoid animals may want to check out the following. I only post the best so no low-quality images or a poor excuse at “nekomimi”, or “kitsunemimi” ^^.

Part 1, Part 2, and Part 3.

The above links shall educate you as to why the Kitsunes are special and what to do if you may encounter them. They shall tell you the basics and even things that they’re capable of!
