Blast From the Past – Astro Megazord

Happy Thanksgiving! Even if its early by two days, heh.

Today I am going to show you guys & gals images of the Power Rangers in Space – Astro Megazord. Amazing that my Power Rangers Megazords survived the test of time & the amount of abuse I gave it as a kid, heh. Dusting and restoration is in progress.

How many of you sometimes take a look back to the past to get a nostalgic feeling? One way or another I always tend to look back from the things I occasionally clean out of my closet and from the moments people post links to youtube links of various old shows, games, or movies. I couldn’t resist making this kind of article and shall be doing so until every single Megazord I have obtains an article of it’s own.

For those who were Power Ranger fans in the past, did you enjoy watching it? Encounter any school yard bullies that picked on you for watching a “wimpy” show? I still do, along with the anti-Gundam pro-Dragonball Z zombies. Ah, the memories ^_^. I remember how villainous they were about such things, and even carries over from Anime to games and etc. I even had one of my Power Rangers action figure nearly thrown into the a elementary school garbage bin during lunch time.

Feel free to look at all those Youtubes incase my images did not please you in some way ^_^. I thought I’d show you this as it has been my favourite for a long while now – from when it was introduced, to the destruction of the ship, and up till now. This ship itself was made in 1997 in Taiwan – Power Rangers in Space. The ship had an AI system that allowed the Rangers to talk to the ship itself.  It has a shielding system, two double turrets, and a booster when in ship mode.

What the set contains:

– Astro Megazord/ship
– Shuttle (contains the megazord’s head within)
– Two removable plastic turrets
– Shield (Now found and waiting for an edit)
– Sword
– Two boosters
– Shuttle carriage (doubles as a gun when gained with booster)

The below imageare the right side view of the same ship/megazord. The one under that being the left view.

Then we have the rear view, note the middle as you can already see half the megazord in the center of the ship itself. Yes, I’m aware I put the stickers on wrong at the rear. If you look carefully you could also notice the hands sitting under the ship.

Then we have the megazord’s nicely hidden shuttle. I’d assume that this show was inspired from Star Trek as you would expect things from there to appear within this ship, except the megazord bit.

The belly of the ship. You can clearly see the hands on the arms, which doubles as a landing gear when the ship lands. If you spot the “wheels” on the arms then you’ll notice that the ship makes an occasional landing every now and again within the show itself. Inbetween those arms we have a battery storage (double AAA batteries) which allows the ship itself to make three different noises.

Under the battery storage you will spot the on off switch that will allow you to annoy people with the loud noises it makes or turn it off so that your parents/friend/wild animals/neighbors/dogs won’t break this collectible to bits.  If you look up now, where the shuttle is, you shall notice how it compliments the shuttle itself without looking foreign.

(without the shield – I lost it, when I find it I shall add it into this article in this spot.)

Yet again no shield, I lost mine in some box that is still left undiscovered somewhere in my closet.

And back to the shuttle itself with the booster accessory.

Hope you enjoyed those images along with opening up those nostalgic feelings you may have, heh.

I’ll come back to edit this article as the shield is missing, I haven’t posed the megazord, and my camera died exactly when I wanted to pose it upright. I’m putting this out there in a hasty manner as I  shall be editing it for the next few days, and it has enough images to act as a brief article, heh. I also wanted to add the Delta Megazord with this but I’m missing another important piece, damn you closet! Another article for you then.

*waits to find the missing shield and shall call this article done afterwords*
