Wacom Bamboo Tablet – Small

Thats right, I acquired a new tablet. I used to draw simplistic doodles, back in ’08 winter, on my sketchpad disliking how my pencils always snapped on me. I wouldn’t have obtained a tablet if I haven’t seen the art and Illust studio Denkikoiji showed me. Priorities when having a certain amount of funds to spend, heh.

And hopefully this isn’t the weather I’ll be seeing all winter……

Ya, I can’t draw well as most people would expect these days but I do try. I did obtain it as I need to draw few things that I can barely manage to draw at the moment. I love doodling and shall be hitting the tutorials sometimes this month ^_^. As I have to start somewhere with Tablets I’ll start with this Bamboo. Now onto the tablet itself:

The tablet nicely wrapped within the protective wrap, the tablet pen above, and a free mouse that comes with the tablet. That mouse is actually quite handy when messing with the tablet itself.

What you see is what you get ^_^. The little bag at the bottom, with the three white bits, are the pen tips.

And a neat little feature that the tablet comes with is the glowing ipod like circle. It slowly dims and brightens in a cool futuristic manner. I could say compare it with those lights that you see on Radio towers during the night, unless those blink swiftly in your region. It takes around 10-15 seconds for it to dim and brighten.

The top two buttons (Left and right arrow) are like your browser arrow – forward button and back button.

The tablet itself is cool and user friendly. The only thing stopping me so far is my own drawing skills and patience as I’m used to things getting done in just a few hours. When I first hooked up the tablet it swiftly informed me of how I should operate the tablet in the swiftest manner possible. The tutorial itself takes less then 20 minutes and is even skippable for those many impatient people who just want to start……….doodling?

After the tutorial I was then allowed to roam my computer’s desktop by simply floating the pen 2-3 mm from the tablet’s “screen” or “drawing area”. Just poking the pen in the desired area moves the cursor to that exact spot. I might use my tablet pen instead of a mouse within the next few months, if I keep drawing on the tablet, as it is quicker and more precise. The precision is amazing. I attempted to draw a few things, but couldn’t seem to draw anything as complex as a chibi (small deformed character) or my fox avatar/mascot. I simply doodled how I normally would and just……uh….produced images that you see below this wall of text. The pen and tablet is as smooth as I prefer and can draw without any issues.

The tablet itself is nice and light, can be placed anywhere you’d imagine. I don’t know how many of you draw but I noticed I had to use a pillow under my wrist or else I would gain hand cramps. Drawing on your lap, the table, a desk, or on an outdoor porch table? Sure, it is portable enough to do so. Heck, I could even imagine it on a plane as you draw on your laptop. Just don’t spill the drinks as you draw ^_^. As I’m more of a gamer and less of a techi I’m not sure what else to discuss.

Since I suck at drawing humanoids I hope that won’t impair me in drawing a few Anime characters  from various shows. Time to hit those tutorials.

Few examples. A word of warning though, I just started using this just yesterday (Tuesday, October 13, 2009) so uh, please bear with me as I share these first few images.

Some random doodle. These oddly shaped ones are far too common on my High School work and in my sketch book. I always start off with some weird geometric shape and turn it into some odd alien art……..

Then my first attempt at drawing a Fox head……..I had such a better template on MSN 8.0 when doodling on there :(. The ears were perfect….Too bad I couldn’t save it.

And a WIP material. It was part of a Forum concept fan fic and spawned from my Anime like dream of Macross vehicles…….And yes, like Macross its supposed to turn into some form of Mecha :p.

Its a nice tablet and I’ll be using it every now and again, everytime I get some creative surge of ideas. Heres to hopping I can produce something worthy enough to actually put on Deviantart ^_^.

And on as an ending message:

– Flurries started coming down within the city for the third time (or more, CJOH news lied :D).
– Slovakia beat Poland in Football (the EU kind).
– Downtown Ottawa seems to be getting rougher by the year. Can’t people just behave? Someone’s key search of  “Beheaded Canada Geese in Andrew Haydon Park” informed me of a late incident and  is making me worry about people’s mentality within the City of Ottawa. Even the City council itself seems to be having a few screws loose……..Get things figured out before its too late fellow Ottawians >.>
– I finally found Kurokami OST and won’t be sharing it as people should be buying the CD ^_^.  Still looking for the 2nd Phanton Requiem OST, though.
– Might not see any out door Figma Photoshoots until Spring :(. I’ll see what I can do. I still need to give each Figma a proper high quality image photoshoot……….I haven’t yet reviewed summer Haruhi and Mikaru yet.  *ponders*

Thanks for reading and hope you enjoyed your stay ^_^.
