Figma Meiya Mitsurugi (UN Version)

Today I shall be reviewing Figma Meiya Mitsurugi. I have acquired her at my local Anime store and so far am pleased by both the box and how she appears within the box.

Figma 040 – Meiya Mitsurugi – [MUV-LUV Alternative]

This is another one of my late gets as I can’t keep up with all the goodies Japan and the Figma line have to offer. I have acquired her last Monday (November 2nd) . These Figmas are starting to cost a fortune as they’ve gone from less then $39 (CAD) + taxes to nearly over $65 (with taxes). I’ll put it this way, they cost as much as a PS3 or Xbox 360 game at this point. If I buy online I get it at the same price so things don’t change much.

So who is Meiya Mitsurugi? I actually am not familiar with the Anime she comes from but I do know she originates from an Ecchi/Hentai Visual novel. More on Wikipedia and Goodsmiles, if you are interested. If anybody can fill me in on further details that would be much appreciated ^_^.

Muv-Luv

Now onto the review.

I actually like how decorative the box is but I’m not really pleased with the background cardboard piece within. And the below image showing how to switch faces, we all know this right? ๐Ÿ™‚

And this background panel needs more work…….I decided to take the opportunity and allow it to show natural art :P. I’m actually used to seeing colorful backgrounds after obtaining other Figma’s after Haruhi. Was hoping that as more Figma’s are made that the attention to detail would rise.ร‚ย  I know it ain’t the Figma itself but still.

What you see is what you get. She comes with a sword, a sheath, an angry face, herself, and various detailed emblems on her body suit. She also comes with the Figma bag, 6 spare hands and the basic stand.

(Link – MySite)

Like with any Figma you get the basic Figma Stand. I’m actually surprised this one actually pokes gently into Meiya’s back without a loose grip. *regains slight respect for the basic stand*

Nicely wrapped up Meiya. Like with any other Figma, her hair is also protected and separated from one another as to not scratch/smug the paint through parts rubbing.

*coughs*…..no, the boobs aren’t squeezable. Ikkitousen Figmas have the squeezable boobs…

Hah, I think it could use a few more pieces of plastic wrapping.

Those lovely boots actually reminds me of the Gantz suit. The details on this continues to impress me, even when typing this out.

Even with all that plastic protection it still gets smudged. I’m not all that concerned with the smug as it might actually assist with the wear and tear of her fighting or similar. I’m more concerned over repairing Miku’s elbow joint and Signum’s bow handle.

The hands have pegs instead off a ball joint. Some may see this as a positive trait but I see this as a negative one as a simple nudge and the hands fall off. Not fun when digging through the leaves and small rocks :).

Pros:
– Less is more – Less accessories allows more decals and paint details to be placed.
– Highly detailed -ร‚ย  The emblems and the painting on the Figma are well done. As I never played the VN I can’t comment on the accuracy.
– Pose-ability is excellent.
– Hair pieces move separately allowing for a “Sway in the wind” or “combat pose” to feel more believable.
– Figma stand actually pegs properly into the Figma’s back without any hassles or frustration.
– Makes for a good subject for any night time images.
– Has a eye catching blue box.
– Hands are now pegged allowing for quick hand swapping.
– Sword is sheath-able (Similar to Figma Saber, Lily Saber, and Signums)
– Glossy suit – as odd as it is to be under pro.
– She blends well with the scenery in dim or darkened regions.

Cons:
– The box background is bland, mirror like.
– Hands are now pegs and are a tad bit short allowing the hands to slip off and disappear in the nearby scenery.
– (Ignorable) – Meiya’s white hair tie obtained a black paint scratching.
– Sword’s sheath is a bit bulky and seems slightly bland. I feel as if the sheath detracts from the quality of the Figma when it comes to looks.

And a bit ofร‚ย  a silentFigma play, with Scorpions. Was requested by Strategist, hope its to everybody’s liking.
No Scorpions were harmed during the photoshoot.

…the section where I posed Figma Haruhi and Mikuru was taken over by the river. Too much rain I’d bet.

I must say that she is a cool Figma and that sometimes simplicity is more. She blends amazingly well with the dark background to the left of my desk where I sometimes don’t even know I had even placed her there. I poke her with my left pinkie finger and wonder what I’m poking only to realize that I poked Meiya heh. She might be an interesting Figma to take pictures of during night time, interesting results may appear?

Thanks for viewing and hope you enjoyed the review/photoshoot article ๐Ÿ™‚
