Figma Rin Kagamine

Hmm. Ya I have been tardy with my blog posts but I couldn’t keep up with everything like I normally do. My interests are swaying in various areas. Well moving on with the lame excuses, I got Rin Kagamine on my last trip to my local anime store (Anime Stop), acquiring her her on the 17th of January, 2009.

Rin Kagamine is from the Vocaloid voice musical program that was created by Yamaha. She is the second vocaloid, and a twin type having Len Kagamine as her brother who have the ability to sing using pre-recorded singing tones. Both Rin and Len are often seen within comical situations where Rin is the serious sister and Len the mischievous punishable character.

Anyways, I’m glad I got Rin in my collection.

Edit: Tuesday, September 14, 2010

Since I rushed this article a year back I thought I’d update this properly from a “hey, I got a figma!” to a “lets review Rin”. I also removed any negativity I had within this article. I added images and fixed up any removed Youtube videos. The below images are taken with a Lumix GF1 camera and kept in the same style as the above older images.

I see I got ahead of myself, time to take a peak at the box itself. The box is nicely decorated with Rin on the forground, a digital vocaloid system in the background (all gray), and the font in a yellowish-orange color.

And what to expect when you obtain Rin – Rin Figma (obviously), a microphone, 8 hand pieces, a figma parts bag, Figma stand and an extra happy face.

The thing I like about Rin is how simple, yet great detailed she looks at the same time. There is a red “02” on her shoulder, a loose key-chain like belt, and “ElectricVoiceSystem” on her lower leg. There is also a musical note on her neck, a vocaloid system pad on both her sleeves, as well as microphone headset on her head.

Rin skateboarding. I wanted to show you the loose “belt” thing on her hips.

The “ElectricVoiceSystem” printed on her leg. They are on both her left and right boots.

And her vocaloid music system seen on her sleeves.

I know I’m missing Len. I’m getting Figmas I really want and may get back to collecting those I missed after.

Pros:

– She is faithfully representation of her animated and digital counterpart. Details are mostly accurate to her vocaloid concepts and artworks.
– Her design is simple and nicely detailed. The “02”, “ElectricVoiceSystem”, Musical note on her neck, and vocaloid pad on her sleeves are a nice touch. The key-chain belt is also a nice touch.
– She poses extremely well for her simplicity.
– Rin’s posing balance is pretty well maintained by her simplicity in design. She can be posed in any situation the photographer/owner desires. Just be careful of heights and the wind!

Cons:

– Her hands keep falling out of her wrist. I nearly lost one during one photo-shoot on my birthday. They just randomly pop out without warning and I also have one palm hand greatly loose for forcing the hand into the wrist.
– Needs a few more face plates and an instrument.

Thanks for viewing/reading and I apologize for my 2008-2009 tardiness. Hope you liked my quick review of Figma Rin ^^.
