Revoltech Fraulein Yoko Movie ver

This time I obtained a Revoltech Fraulein Yoko Movie version from my Anime store. Too my shock this anime store had tons too choose from which made buying something harder to choose. I wasn’t sure what to obtain as they had new figmas, a Haruhi pillow case, and nendos (I don’t have nendos). From all the choices I had I tried to take my chances with this Revoltech Yoko version and see how special this figure really is. I know other people already have this figure but I only just acquired it on Sunday (August 23, 2009).

I still fear Revoltech figures but I’m still unsure as to why I’m still acquiring them. I can’t seem to pose Rev’ Saber and I loosened Bunny Haruhi’s neck joint. They’re neat but they just don’t seem to like me as much?

Yoko comes from the “Tengen Toppa Gurren lagann” Anime series. The Yoko figure herself comes from the movie of that series where she basically assists the main character with sniping tasks. She’s basically the support character in the group.

The main series is basically about humanity being forced to live underground. The human population is greatly reduced with caveman-esque living standards in underground villages. After a few opened minded and one sided conversations, Simon and Kamina both encounter a creature from above where Yoko makes her first appearance in defeating the threat that forced humanity underground in ignorance.

As much as the Anime is cheesy and cliche it is what makes the Anime great and unique as it is. If you haven’t watched the Anime yet then you’re missing out on one of the few good over-hyped Animes out there.

I actually like what they did with the hair pins, little cardboard over it to protect it from possible bending.

Her other accessories she comes with – Guns and two bullets (or from what I can remember when watching the show). There is even a pistol and a small rifle, along with two sniper rifle stands. That pink strap actually moves a bit.

Then we got the other face (which I managed to loosen Bunny Haruhi head with 🙁 ) and extra pair of hands.

Then everything you get with the Revoltech figure. Note the protective plastic behind her hair (on her back). From how she looks I can understand why she is an attractive character to the slightly over-hyped Anime series and will let that hype speak for itself on other people’s comments :P.

What the plastic was protecting. What took me by surprise was how they allowed the hair to look as if its flowing within the wind and allowing each part to move. The hair isn’t just one piece, but 3-4 pieces.

Shes is a lovely figure and glad I bought her. She has nice accessories, easy to switch hands with, but how she stands on her own is nearly impossible (at the moment). She tends to fall back every time I try to make her stand on her own. I still haven’t figured out how to make her stand or pose on her own without using that worthless stand (compared to Figma stands). Guess I’ve been spoiled by the Figma line for their simplicity.

Sorry, no posing images as I didn’t want to break anything on a unfamiliar figure (i.e Bunny Haruhi). I did try simple poses but even those were unsatisfactory. I’ll see about posing her in more photo shoots in the future.

(Edit: Saturday, August 21, 2010)

Long overdue (almost a year) update. Finally decided to roughly add in some posing images from the “future” of Yoko being posed. Sorry if it was belated but I didn’t trust this figure, for good reasons. Here is more love for Revoltech Yoko that I didn’t give Yoko from the past ^^. Also fixed up a few grammar errors, added a paragraph and a few Youtube embeds.

Pros:

– A great pose-able statue like figure thats faithful to the series it comes from. Great detailing.
– Great accessories and numerous amounts of them. Comes with many hand configurations.
– Can pose Yoko in any movie-eque scene styles or your own. She can pose similar to that of Figma’s.
– Her hair piece can switch and can even be moved unlike older Figma hair pieces.

Cons:

– Joints come loose with ease. Once loose, she behaves in an elderly person type manner and falls over with the slightest of vibrations. Her knee joints give out easily.
– Similar to Bunny Haruhi, her joints are a picky to those who aren’t familiar or fond of the way these figures are made. Switching between head pieces becomes a major chore unless you have some tool to assist you.
– Lacks any kind of parts bag and had to use a sandwich bag.
– The stand helps, but not as much as it should be helping.

Sorry if some things were belated. Thanks for viewing and hope you liked my review ^^.
