Playstation 3 Home – Part 3 – Halloween & Traditional Japan

Hello once again, and hope you had a joyously haunted Halloween! If not, I hope it was at least entertaining in some way, shape, or form! Might as well share the mood from a gaming sense from both the North American and Japanese servers! Too bad I can’t pose my Shinki’s within PS Home….

(All images taken from Playstation 3’s Home space on both American and Japanese server.)

Originally wanted to do a Fate/Extra (PSP – NA PSN version) and a final Farewell to Battle Rondo but decided to pop onto PS Home. I wanted to see what was new in both North American and the Japanese Home space, what was festive, and just “explore”. Well, here is the article from the random curiosity of mine haha.

Halloween and traditional Japan, interesting mix! With Shinki-net (Battle Rondo and Diorama Studio) dead I decided to cover Playstation Home and Gran Turismo 5’s photo-mode once again. It is a nice free feature that I think needs more attention from gamers because we always love free things, this shouldn’t be an exception to that.

Aurora Homespace: (NA Side)

A fun space with simple mini-games when trying to figure out what game to play on the PS3. Seeing it decorated in Halloween decorations gives me the impression that these developers care over those that simply upped the space and *beep* off.

– Central Plaza – NA version

Ooo! Nice! Giant pumpkin of doom! Quite cramped, but it does look festive enough to be noted. The space has a pumpkin moon, an interactive coin-toss game with the pumpkin head, and lots of mini-decorations here and there.

The coin toss into the pumpkin’s mouth is an interesting mini-game. Curious as to what I won….A Happy and an angry Jack o’ Lantern.

Central Plaza – Japan Space:

Ha! This took me by surprise and looks much more festive than the cramped American space. The mood is darker, the lighting is more Halloween-ish, and people’s avatars have more room to waltz around without bumping into nearby scenery and the like.

Haven’t noticed any games….I did notice awesome Halloween costumes, or Halloween-esque

Edo Lounge Space:

What does this traditional Japanese space have to with Halloween? Similar to how people wearing costumes mostly go out at night on Hallow-eve – Demons in an alternate realm! There is a day and night cycle but you may still pop into the other realm to slay demons. Also one word for this time period – Kitsune. Though, I haven’t seen them in the alternate dimension, or night-time version. Doesn’t bother me.

Here is a trailer because I can’t take images when in the combat demon zone.

(I kept dieing here and only killed one umbrella spirit.)

What is the box in the top-left corner? *shrugs*. A typical Japanese person would know than I, ha. Still struggling in understanding Japanese, especially the written form.

(Link – MySite) – No matter where I am I love looking at the scenery.

(Link – MySite) – Mmmm, tempura! And that boat in the back actually moves.

(Link – MySite) – This would of seemed real without that silly box.

(Link – MySite) – He actually pulls that cart around! There is also a runner.

(Link – MySite) – Ooo, water! Do note the out-house is off-screen to the left!

(Link – MySite) – Well, when you gotta go you gotta go no matter what!

Did I mention that this space has a working onsen?

(Link – MySite) – Crouch to enter and to take a peak.

(Link – MySite) – Or you can just go up and relax after or before a dip.

Onsen not your thing? Try cosplaying as Sheryl, Ranka, Miku, BRS, or maybe eve as the locals :P.

It is a very lovely space, need more of these! PS Home needs more villages, towns, and city spaces where people can roam around and have fun!

There is a small street corner with a pachinko building in another Home space which is awesome. It feels a bit cramped, needs expending, but it did give me a nice Yakuza game vibe.

Extra/Bonus images:

Might as well share these from my runs through both PSN Home spaces. It would be a waste if I didn’t.

(Link – MySite) – This bird reminds me of Ferrow or Ho-Oh from Pokemon Gold, Silver and Crystal from Pokemon.

(Link – MySite) – Nice, but trivial. Would go well with Gran Turismo 5’s travel mode. Needs more interaction with less half-assery! 😛

(Link – MySite) – I swear there is an exact same one in Battle Rondo, or was…Rabbits on the moon! Disgea Japan space.

(Link – MySite) – Either the Japanese or baka gaijins idling about on the quiz pad. No penalty for getting the wrong answers?

(Link – MySite) – Lovin’ the Miku and BRS outfits.

Glad PS Home is being cared for! Halloween looks nice on it and hope to see more from it. I guess you can tell what my favorite new Home space is. Downed two demons (1 today and 1 yesterday) which I’m happy about.

Guess I shall be focusing on PS Home every few months seeing as how every nice space comes out at that slow pace.
