Hello! Busou Shinki episode 3 is available on the Japanese PSN for 400 yen, yet only viewable in the game via your room TV option. You’ll have to wait for the Blu-Ray.
Spoiler warning! Be patient to watch next episode, or scroll down cautiously!

I like this episode. We get to finally see Arnval a.k.a Kaguya fight against an opponent. However, Ken has some suspicions about a Shinki found on a tree branch. You would to, right? Any “expert” would. The battle ahead is going to get quite…chaotic.

Hmm….That blue Tsugaru would of been LONG sold out. We’re on episode three and it’s still on the store shelves…..Been what? A day or two? And is that a Vic Viper gal on the bottom right?
(Link – MySite) – Getting Arnval all checked out.
Wait? You can access Shinki’s data from the Cradle? Nobody told me this….Maybe the store has a unique cradle? Because I can’t see what’s on the computer’s screen I can’t see what kind of data is being displayed.
This comes as a surprise because I always had to wake up my gals in Battle Rondo when I wanted to check their stats. You get no Cradles in Battle Masters because your Shinki’s are always “on” because fights are meant to be quick and for the go.
(Link – MySite) – Arnval’s data being checked out from the Cradle. The equivalent of seeing a doctor.
(Link – MySite) – Ken’s “This isn’t right, what’s going on?” face.
(Link – MySite) – A semi-fake smile? At least Tsubasa is happy with his new Arnval.

(Link – MySite) – Arnval starting at the crescent moon.
(Link – MySite) – Great think about being a Shinki is being able to jump almost anywhere.
(Link – MySite) – “Hai! I’ll do my best during tomorrow’s battle!”
(Link – MySite) – The changing of the moon phases.
(Link – MySite) – Konami’s “Amusement” center.
(Link – MySite) – Wow, quite a crowd for a single battle. Tsubasa’s opponent is popular?
(Link – MySite) – You seem like a prick. I swear I came across you in both Battlemaster’s game and beat you to a pulp, many times at that! Poor Zelno.
(Link – MySite) – Opponent 1 – Zelnograd – Ready to enter battle arena.
(Link – MySite) – Opponent 2 – Arnval – Ready to enter battle arena.
(Link – MySite) – Arnval descends into the battle arena on a Shinki-sized elevator.
(Link – MySite) – Both opponents are ready. Ride-On!
*Insert Busou Shinki Battle Masters loading screen and sound effects.*
For those that haven’t played the game may want to look at the following video to get the vibe of the pre-battle and battle bits.

(May swap this video with one similar to the Anime version.)

Apologies if the battle was boring but it was meant to “show-off” the game in a basic way. I’m using it now to give you an idea of how the Anime is show off the battle, the Battlemasters way. The anime uses sound-effects and the stage from the game itself. Tsubasa and Arnval both merge as one to battle Zelno, as does the opponent.
(Link – MySite) – Battle area being generated into a desert field.
(Link – MySite) – Pre-generated.
(Link – MySite) – Generated. This map is a desert map from the game and has a damaged city section as a background image.
(Link – MySite) – Press Ctrl+F and type this -*> for an explaination as to why he’s wearing this. Might be obvious, but this is meant for those not familiar.
(Link – MySite) – Zelno’s helmet has a cam in the middle, thus the gun position. Yes, I seen the Mythbusters episode of gun positions.

(Link – MySite) – Arnval and Zelno appear to be having fun. Zelno seems to be the mocking/taunting type.
(Link – MySite) – “Say hello to my little friend!” – Pst: Those are live rounds.

(Thought I’d share this as an example to show you what I meant as “live”. It’s also been hinted that ammo is live in Battle Rondo OP.)

(Link – MySite) – Oh boy, she means business. RUN! Yes, you can power up your weapon in the game as well by charging it, yet you’re open to attacks.
– And now this is the part where I let you wonder what’s going on.
(Link – MySite) – Who won?! I can’t see! Oh, and same victory message as in the game with same musical jingle.
(Link – MySite) – Is Tsubasa happy or frustrated?
(Link – MySite) – Oooo, similar screen to the game’s HUD.

– Episode Break-Down:
-> Tsubasa getting Arnval examined through the store’s Cradle. There are two USB cables coming from the Cradle into the store’s computers. One’s for charging and the other is for data? Guess it does more than charge Shinkis, well according to this episode anyways. Could work similar to how the PSP connects to the PS3 via Remote Play – Shinki being a PSP and cradle being the PS3.
-> A very rare Blue Tsugaru casually and openly sits behind the store’s counter for the past few Anime days. If it was in this realm that Tsugaru would of been someone’s victim…I mean battle partner. Maybe that Tsugaru costs a fortune? Mandarake and Ebay style?
-> Vic Viper gals sitting at the front of the store? I recognize that shape as the blue one.
-> Ken, if that is the owner’s name is, is overly suspicious of Tsubasa’s Arnval. You would be too if you encountered a customer obtaining a Shinki that mysteriously But hey, some douche threw Fubuki into the garbage bin in the Battlemasters game so it might not be all that odd.
-> Moon changed from full to a near-crescent shape. Arnval looking lonely, most likely worried about battling from what I gathered.
-> Arnval’s ability to jump anywhere is something to note. The way she jumps, her agility and the distance she gathers hints she’s a swift Shinki.
-> Tsubasa starts his first battle where the players do in the PSP games, at Konami’s battle center – Konami Amusement Center. The official battle area is similar to a mixture of a hockey table and air-hockey. Shinki’s are placed on an descending and ascending elevator that takes Shinki’s inside the whole electronic box.
-> Tsubasa’s opponent appears to be a prick with the way he displays his body language. Zelno is his Shinki who specializes in firearms, like pistols, Gatling guns, rocket launchers and snipers. Basically anything that makes a “boom” sound.
-> The Shinki battles within the Anime are the exact kind that we have within the PSP game. The battles are exactly the same, the effects, music, stages, and the HUD on the battle arena box’s screen. Makes sense because you access the video from the said game. The stage is basically a giant hologram, or holo-deck (Star Trek) where the Shinki’s fight on various types of stages.
-> The stage from the Anime is the same desert stage from the game. It has some simple ruins scattered around the stage and an abandoned damaged city used as a background. Basically as you see it.
-*> To use a Shinki in the stage both “Masters” merge with their Shinki’s using the goggles. This is called “Ride”, and the more you syncronize with your Shinki the stronger they get. Why? So you could control your Shinki in Battle Masters instead of watching them fight in Battle Rondo. Tsubasa is able to give commands to Arnval this way, as with Mr. Prick and his Zelno.
-> Zelnograd stuck with long-range while Arnval used her speed and agility to hit Zelno’. Either she wasn’t trained well, or her strategy was one-sided and in-efficient in this battle. Zelno needs some melee weapon for close-range battles. Even so, Zelno could of won with accuracy alone if her Master wasn’t a prick. From what I understood Zelno stuck with mocking and taunting instead of fighting properly.
-> All ammunition is live, as seen by Zelno’s Gatling gun images. It was also hinted as being live through Battle Rondo OP and a few other sources. Imagine all those repair costs and the cost for miniature ammunition…..I could be wrong and they could be like nurf gun or pellets instead.
-> 2 words for the end – Shinki Tempesta.

And that is both the review and episode break-down for ep 3. Hope you liked this ep 3 for those that were able to watch it. If not, then I hope you will when you can get access to it.
I find episode 4 to be quite strange and episode 5 to be quite……interesting. You’ll see when we get to it. Until then, I shall try to catch up with future episode releases.
Peace
