Busou Shinki – Moon Angel – Episode 2

Hello! You can finally obtain Episode 2 for 400 yen on the Japanese PSN. There is a catch where you have to watch the Anime within the game’s TV section in your room. Second episode is filled with Tsubasa repairing Arnval that he found in episode one.

Spoiler Warning! Article contains spoilers that may ruin your viewing of the Anime once it “airs”. Scroll down cautiously or be a bit more patient!

After much pondering, and numerous requests, I finally decided to review Episode 2. I wasn’t sure how to post without spoilers, but that would be near impossible with the way I want to cover these episodes. If you don’t want to get spoiled then either scroll down very very slowly or be a bit more patient until episode two comes out on YouTube, Torrents, or Blu-ray.

– CSC Core = OK
– Body-check = OK
– All systems = Green

How I want one of those programs. Not even the Japanese Battle Rondo was even this advanced with system checks because parts didn’t get damaged.

(Link – MySite) – I want one of these! My beloved Shinki’s always get hurt :(.

– Episode Break-down

Now then, let’s see all those little interesting points/notes that you may or may have not missed.

-> Arnvals CSC (The three marbles determining her abilities) light up once activated. They determine the Shinki’s attributes and combat behavior. If placed directly into combat there is a high risk of Arnval short-circuiting instantly, even from a light attack.
-> A plug (Not a USB) plugs into Arnval’s back to access her data. A plug access data, USB to indirectly charge the shinki via cradle (explained below), and CSC cores to determine their combat efficiency. Three ways to alter Shinki behavior.
-> Different Diagnostic program to check on Shinki’s status. Nothing close to what was shown in either Battle Rondo (PC MMO) or BattleMasters (PSP).
-> Arnvals Rank is an EX type, not C, B, A or S. From what I can remember, Shinki’s placed there didn’t fit the requirements to rank up from C to B to S to A. Arnval has freedom, but not officially known as a top-ranking Shinki.
-> Arnval’s program hesitantly booted up with the default Shinki OS message, similar to a Window’s instal tour, which states where Arnval was made and her serial number. The program would also ask their Master for a name. Click “Here!” for an example.
-> Tsubasa falling from the chair, remember! Don’t fall back!
-> Arnval may have lost her previous memory when she fled from Straf due to a possible forced hardware restart. In Battle Rondo when you reset your Shinki their previous memories and stats would be reset and gone forever.
-> Arnvals remaining gear is set neatly on a piece of green cloth on the right side of Tsubasa’s desk. I doubt you need a wrench.
-> Tsubasa names Arnval Kaguya – Probably after “The Tale of the Bamboo Cutter” where Kaguya was discovered as a baby inside a stalk of a glowing bamboo plant.
-> Arnval and Tsubasa exchange a bow, with Tsubasa being both excited and embarrassed. Silly Tsubasa haha.
-> Poster with “Nubis”. I’m sure I seen this before….Xenosaga? No, too easy of a guess…Xenogear? Something near that.

-> Arnval attempting to mimic a lovely butterfly but falls onto the balcony. Must note that Arnval has nice balancing skills, up until she slipped. Tsubasa appears to be a young father with the way he’s observing Kaguya behaving like a little child, laughing loudly and proudly.
-> Amusing scene with Tsubasa showing Arnval how to smile. Shinki’s are still still robots so they need to be taught how to smile! Unless this is a Japanese habit of checking your teeth.
-> Tsubasa seems to know his stuff! He repaired the hole where Straf damaged Arnval’s armored breast-plate. Almost a nice exact piece as well. Going to go ahead and assume that he had that paint ready for when he was going to purchase a Shinki or for model building. No sign of him going to the store.
-> Tsubasa and Kaguya both looking through various default Shinki stats of various Shinkis, even Straf. Arnval appears confused while Tsubasaappears to be lecturing his new partner.

– A fitting quote:

So it is said that if you know your enemies and know yourself, you can win a hundred battles without a single loss.
If you only know yourself, but not your opponent, you may win or may lose.
If you know neither yourself nor your enemy, you will always endanger yourself.

As I said in the Busou Shinki Archives article.

-> Tsubasa seems to be into aviation and cars, or that is what the posters seem to hint at. Poster to the left is of a stealth plane – Blackbird – and the other one of a Toyota racer. Probably generic by now, but something to note.
-> Homework! How I dread thee! But when you have Arnval feeding you chips it’s as fun as can be! Chips! Arnval feeding Tsubasa chips. Every Master’s dream within the Shinki universe. Even those in the Shinki community expressed desires to be fed by their Shinki’s.

-> Arnval is easily amused by the scenery, unsure about a cute barking dog, yet happy enough to fetch a balloon. Arnval was curious and happy enough to jump after a balloon that contained more helium that would carry her away, HA! Like a kid in an amusement park. Have fun while you can!
-> After a nice day’s worth of an adventure Arnval is ready to recharge in her Cradle. Cradle? What did you think Shinki’s run on? Air? They’re powered by an internal battery pack which requires Shinki’s to rest on the cradle to recharge. It’s similar to Dell’s charging pad, working on inductive charging.

As much as I want to say what is happening in the last scene I’ll let your imagination do the work from what you seen in the last three images. 😛

Hmm….I’m pretty sure this was a spoiler-filled review. If you’ve been spoiled then I apologize, I’ll try holding back on future reviews. But I felt this was necessary with the way I needed to do the “break-down” and for how long it’s been delayed.

Anyways, Episode 3 may follow shortly with more restraint on images and spoilers.

Peace!
