– Making my way to Ueno Station to visit Kamakura as early as I could.
This blogpost covers the day of April 19th, 2023 in Tokyo (Ueno), Yokosuka, and Kamakura.
Woke up at 8 AM (the earliest I could) while aiming straight for Yokosuka’s military boat cruise. My mission was to visit both Yokosuka and Kamakura desiring an early start as possible while also not desiring to be sleep deprived. I still screwed up in the process attempting to get to Yokosuka thanks to how overly efficient Japan’s rail system is confusing the trains at a later stop.
I ate (Conbini food from night prior), I washed up all prior to leaving, it all goes without saying. I was eventually greeted by cats. A few cats, at that. Morning cats! Nyaa!~
I genuinely enjoyed my day today, totaling up to 515 images. If the blog post struggles to load, that’s why. It was a glorious day!
– What I love the most about Japan is how mostly tidy it is. Japan prides itself on being civil, respectful, and tidy. I also admire the flowers lining the roadway.
Basically backtracking my way to Ueno Station using Google Maps to guide me back through side streets. Noticed many awesome landmarks and sights, basically scenery the Japanese locals probably take for granted.
– According to Google Translate the sign translates to when crew have to take breaks to replenish water and may occasionally take masks. Unsure if that’s correct. Trying to make note of the train driver past the reflection.
– Making our way up to tunnel.
I was being stupid when taking trains for Ueno to another station. I had a mix up, even mixing it up further by taking an even slower train. I couldn’t make sense of what train to take, and where.
[Travel log: Train Mixup (JK) to Shinagawa – (KK) Yokohama. Asked for help/Lost/Missed train (Skipped Zuchi).]

– Video – Train honking in an underpass.
– Video – Train honking in an underpass/tunnel, even with an announcement.
– After some stupid detours, and my impatience, I finally arrived at Yokosuka! WOOO!~
– Hello Kitty!
– Welcome to Yokosuka!
I’m here for your military boat cruise! 🙂
– Yokosuka – A Cruise of Yokosuka Naval Port.
Walked my way from Shiori Station to Yokosuka Mall. Even asked for directions to the boat cruise in hopes of not missing it.
– Fearing I would miss out from over-booking finding out it was a perfect day to visit. Very quiet and empty.
I would later tour the shop to buy some quick souvenirs.
– Shirase (AGB-5003)
Shirase wasn’t here before, now she is. I would get a nice close up look into her.
– Yokosuka and military guys roaming around Yokosuka.
– Yokosuka – Japan Heritage Cruise
– Yokosuka!
– Yokosuka Military cruise booked, and waiting in line.
– Sea Friend 7.
– I’m on!
– Various barges.
– Leaving Yokosuka Mall (Coaska) behind.
– US Navy – 83 – USS Howard.
– US Navy – 83 – USS Howard.
– US Navy – 83 – USS Howard, with USS Ronald Regan (CV) seen in the back.
– US Navy – 83 – USS Howard, with USS Ronald Reagan (CV) seen in the back.
I desired a better look at USS Ronald Regan, American’s lovely American Aircraft Carrier. I don’t get many chances to see their aircraft carriers, or naval vessels at all. This would be perfect.
– USS Howard.
– JS Izumo (DDH-I83)

– Finally! The star of the show! USS Ronald Reagan!
– USS Ronald Reagan.
– USS Ralph Johnson (DDG-114), USS Antietam (CG-54), USS Rafael Peralta (DDG-115)
– USS Ronald Reagan. WOOO!~
– With the people around me I felt bad for constantly going back and forth. I would constantly get in the way of an old guy behind me. He later stopped doing what he desired, probably waiting for another cruise. I’m sorry!

That proudly ends the Yokosuka naval tour. Nice! Worth it! 🙂
Now for a food break at Yokosuka mall. I’m hungry.
– Sailormoon Cosmos advertising.
– Tried some random Indian curry with egg combo.
– Taking one last look at the naval warships.
– Casually making my way down the walkway to admire the scenery.
– Panorama.
– Panorama.
– New tour and USS Howard.
– Izumo & Shirase.
– Pigeons.
– Amused by how they were backing up the bus at Yokosuka Station.
Buses beeping in reverse while the other guy shouts – “alright, alright, alright” – while waving to reverse.
The way the Japanese say “Alright” has a slight slur to it, almost like ‘Alrite’, or ‘alryt’. Something like that. Japanese folks shall know, they hear it on the daily, or even weekly basis.
– Oh? Seen a fair number of Japanese Tweets about this. This is something I’ll be looking into tomorrow.
Made my way onto the platform (going back and forth a bit), waited, and eventually boarded the train bound for Kamakura. Saw a fair number of tourists on there. Even was caught off guard by the special train cars attached to this train.
– Trying to capture the ships in the background.
– Trying to capture the vessels in the background.
– Military ship focus.
The train ended up stopping at a station for a weird reason. Maybe to uncouple some cars, or something other. I waited in the train car, standing. Every seat was taken. I even desired to capture the tram sitting out on display while enroute somewhere. I sadly don’t know where it is, or was. It’s been too long. I missed out on a tram on display between Yokosuka and Kamakura.
Kamakura arrival:
WoOO!~ Back in Kamakura. Had to visit a nearby conbini for cash and food.
– Making my way down a tourist trap area to reach a conbini.
– Funny how I have a few people looking at my camera. I’m just taking a picture.
– Nyaa!~
– Owl!
Made my way into the conbini, maybe even guided around. Hard to recall. Once I obtained what I needed, I made my way to Kamakura Owl petting area, accidentally making my way into the Kamakura Nameshiba Cafe.
– Barn Owl.
Paid for the owl, had my stuff stored away, and made my way around the owl displays. One of the staff had me even sign a waiver for owl bites, etc. I accepted, even shown how to pet the owls. One owl was also sadly upside down, to which I signaled her to help out the owl. She thanked me for telling her.
She petted another owl to which I tried to say “the owl is having fun”, or “tanoshi”, but then she was weird about how I said it. She seemed sad, or even depressed (weirded out?) at what I was trying to imply. Back to the owls, I guess?
– It was both freaky awesome how some owls turned their head to follow me.
A couple was starting their own round of owl exploration so I had to pick up the pace, if slightly. They may have also been pacing themselves to also allow me to do what I needed to do here of admiring the owls.
Once completed, I checked the gift store, grabbed my stuff, and left. I may have also thanked them for allowing me there. If not, thank you!
I now seen more owls thanks to Japan’s awesomeness. Sure, some of it may have been awkward, I however saw more than I ever could. Nice!
Made my way back to Kamakura’s station for a rest break while snacking on some food and drinking some Demon Slayer drink. I hid near some coin lockers.
– Just looping around.
I was basically trying to retrace my steps to visit shrines in hopes of obtaining stamps, as I had for Kamakura. It allowed me to see things from a slightly different perspective thanks to my mood of having visited their prior.
Video – JR Rail train making its way into Kamakura Station.
– There was a lineup here on my previous visit, not on this one though.
– Looking back the way I came.
Less awkwardness this time around, and more straight-forwardness.
– Back at the shrine, the one you can even visit in VRChat.
– Helicopter.
– Kitty! Was trying to figure out how to get around it without scaring it.
– Made my way back to the Kitsune Inari shrine, if with a brief flashback of Anime thanks to the blue truck.
– Well, that’s new. I also noticed my coins I placed on the Kitsune’s heads were taken.
– Kon! Kon!~
I properly prayed at the shrine this time, after observing a guy. I accidentally followed him, and he even gave me a few cautious looks. Sorry! I’m just passing by, and I was trying to make sure I was respecting your culture by seeing how you prayed.
When in Japan you have to do as the Japanese, so I tried respectfully behaving as one. I gave my coin offerings, as I had done in a prior visit.
Satisfied, I decided it’s time to head to Enoshima Island.
– Beetle!
– Yes, I was stupid on this one. Walked by people who were having an interview. I shouldn’t have taken an image, but I did. They probably noted it in their coverage how a weird foreigner took a picture of them. Thankfully the image is blurry.
– Passing by various small roads, shrines, and backroads.
– Japan’s & Kamakura’s sidewalks are interesting.
– I find these intersections interesting. It’s a 4 way intersection with it even appearing as a 3-way intersection.
– Now THAT is an interesting building. I find these structures fairly interesting.
I was making my way to Wadazuka to Koshigoe via Kamakura’s tram network.
– My tram has arrived!
Sadly, the tram was packed full. I couldn’t do anything, or much. Too many students, tourists, and other folks. It was difficult.
– Nice view, and amusing diggers.
– Noting the ocean-scape, and even the tram diagram on the window.
– Full, and only going to get fuller. Tram also passing by while we waited.
– The hilarity! People still taking images, but this time I’m taking it from inside viewing outside.
Barely managed to get out. Had to fight my way out. Once I made it out I was laughing without making a noise. I was laughing at the situation so much a few folks looking back at me had a slow double take. Crazy. The tram situation in Kamakura is crazy.
– Sweets makes everyone happy. (The folks ahead were the ones who had a double take at my amusement of the situation.)
– Looking back at the station, and the only time you can cross the tracks in Japan in odd places.
– Making note of more people taking images of Kamakura’s trams.
– Even if it’s cloudy, it’s still gorgeous. Kamakura is gorgeous!
Decided to cross over to admire Shichirigahama beach because I was given a chance to do so. I saw the crossing, I chose to visit it happily. Might as well. Not every day I’m given this chance, even if I spent a few days here.
– That’s my destination!
– Panorama of the beach.
– Beware of those sealife, they can be dangerous.
– “Beware of the bonefish (Jellyfish)! Never touch them!”
– Loving the Kamakura side of things.
– Video – Me admiring Kamakura’s rough beach waters. Rough waves. I’m one of the few idiots on there.
– Kon! Kon! Proof I was in Kamakura. 😉
– Kon! Kon! Proof I was in Kamakura. 🙂
– This reminded me of Tofino (B.C), and even the Long Beach in Vancouver Island.
– Some burnt wood and seashell.
– Video – Kamakura tram going by and the rough waves at the beach.
– Some random lifevest.
Accidentally stepped on some wood assuming it’ll help me up. Nope! I aborted that mistake as quickly as a guy looked at me weirdly. Just a local observing a confused Canadian tourist making his way up the ramp. I was trying to cross the street to make my way to Enoshima Island.
– Not sure how I missed this the first time.
– Nana Collection? Some interesting styled homes.
Honestly speaking, if these homes were built in Canada, I’d happily live in one of these funky stone houses. A home is a home, and I’d happily live in one of those homes.
Also, crossing the intersection leading the below image is overly weird. I wish there was a sidewalk leading straight on this side so one didn’t have to constantly zig-zag. Shrines, and other structures are in the way. I guess that’s a part of Kamakura’s charms.https://flic.kr/p/2pjSMD9
– Just checking up on various places, even noting where I am. See! Even Google Maps proves I was here.
– Gradually making my way back to Enoshima Island, even hoping to obtain some certain shots in certain angles from ‘Bunny Girl Senpai’.
– A random TV down below.
– Fuji is hiding again?!
– You can very faintly see Mount Fuji. Very faint.
– Faintly viewing Mount Fuji.
– Enoshima Island!
Admiring the above garden while out of breath in some fashion. The stairs in Japan always ruins me when they’re steep. Winded.
– This view is awesome!
– Enoshima Yacht Harbour.
– Accidental image grab. Sporting my Vancouver Canadian shirt.
– I was able to see a ‘Bunny Girl Senpai’ location, and a place I had to visit. This is where I would go later tomorrow.
Ventured further up the steps, even rounding the corner to the left side (not to the garden) just to see alternate areas.
– Admiring the beauty of Enoshima Island.
– Using the various selfie stands for these. Even tried to avoid a bookworm in the area.
– No smoking, but I saw the other side.
– Trying to avoid some loud guys (foreigners or school kids) messing around. I tried going around them, even avoiding them.
A rowdy school group (or a tourist group) was in the area, even trying to get me in the image at one point. I avoided them while being in my bubble. I was actually annoyed by how loud they were being. Yes, I agree…. Maybe I should have had my image taken with them, as I had in Kure, and other places. I was feeling slightly on the agitated side with the rowdiness.
– Bird.
– Bird.
– Military helicopters.
– Helicopter.
– Blurry Version
– Non-blurry version.
– The house on the left looks run down and a ghost house. This is still a very gorgeous areas. I can even see it’s a very wind-blown area noting the trees ahead.
– Ghost house? Very spooky. It gave me the creeps.
– Beautiful!
– Trying to look down.
– Trying to see what’s on the other side. Upcoming to another shrine.
– This statue pierces into one’s soul. It gives off very creepy vibes.
– Dragon!
– Making my way down, something I would regret on the way back.
– Enoshima Island is crazy, yet beautiful.
– Looking back at the Fujisawa side of the area. Very gorgeous.
– Barely able to see Mount Fuji.
– Panorama.
What’s silly is how the washrooms (above image on the left) is closed after 5 PM, or so. When you have ot go, you have to go. It’s silly washrooms (restrooms) close at a certain hours on Enoshima island. Well, at this area.
– Kamakura/Enoshima giving me aura-like vibes around my head. Me and Mount Fuji.
– This area has a weirdly awesome attraction to it. The clean paving and the rough terrain around it.
Oh! There is a bridge!
– This person is crazy, even if he is fishing. Crazy.
– I would eventually discover this area also closes at 5 PM. I came too late. I also see some alternate pathways, something which may have eroded thanks to the strong waves in the area and weather conditions over the years.
– Mount Fuji on the left, sunset on the right.
– Wild. Insanely beautiful and awesome!
– Video – Mount Fuji and a lovely sunset. Strong waves.
– Now to make my way back.
– I saw something move in the side of my eye. Is that a Silverfish?!
– No, seriously. What the heck is this?!
Some tourists walked by even confused by what I was observing. I noted ‘Silverfish’. They only understood either “silver” or “fish”, not both. I would later find out this is Japan’s version of a Centipede.
– Making my way back to the Sea Candle.
Stopped by at a restroom, if lightly spooked by some guys following me into the restroom. Let me relieve myself in piece. I even had my Lumix GF1 hanging around my neck.
– Admiring the scenery and various views I would see from here.
– Gorgeous!
Made my way back into Enoshima Island’s castle. I needed to obtain Enoshima’s stamp, something I purposely went up into the tower for. I would later discover it’s hidden away at the bottom floor at the counter.
– Well, this is unique. Not as special as my first time here, still noteworthy.
– Video – Sample of the displays and the music playing. Sparkly~
– Video – Another example of the light show and music.
I was fine this time around, unlike my previous trip. I wasn’t melting down in depression about not having a girl, though I was still reminded how I’m simply not allowed to have one because of how girls enjoy playing games. That, or they intentionally avoid over weirdness. This time around the displays themselves felt hollow; The VRChat magic was gone from my previous visit. I still enjoyed myself here though.
There is one fact I do note, and expect from people, is how everything is always allegedly my fault with things. Basically for everything in general, and even when it comes to seeking girls. Everything always has to be my fault, and that’s how I expect things from people. I wish to see proper and normal interactions, as I’ve seen in romance Anime, and experienced lightly in schools. Everything has to be so cheap and fake.
– Video – Admiring the few good things about tonight’s display. Camera struggled with the darkness.
– Video – Amusing how this gadget synced with the music. It may be hard to notice, I however noticed it flash and move to the music.
– Finally made my way up to the Sea Candle in hopes of obtaining the stamp for the area. A nice nightly view of the area.
– Maybe I’ll face my fears this time. Let’s go up another flight of stairs.
– Video – Viewing Kamakura from the Sea Candle.
I decided to venture down, even asking the staff on the ground floor about the stamp. The guy was confused, eventually realizing what I was seeking. I tried to be kind. An older female staff member came up to me, even asking me if that was what I was looking for. I noted it was indeed, though regret I may have accidentally come off as monotoned and rude. I’m fearing that, but I am genuinely grateful for their assistance. The stamp was indeed what I was looking for. I wish I could have responded in the way they were hoping for.
– At random I asked for Vanilla ice cream and Lemonade Whisky. (On the right side)
Stupid me did not realize ‘Lemonade Whisky’ is actually what gives you a buzz. I assumed it was just a drink, not an alcoholic one. They even were confused among themselves, still giving me it in the end. They eventually closed up shop once they gave me my order.
– I couldn’t resist, I had to lick my ice cream. By the time I realized I already had licked it, making it appear it was melting, and maybe even unphotogenic. I still had to note what I had obtained.
– Nice lights, and the place I ordered from closed up for the night.
– Video – Slow atmospheric music for those chill vibes.
– Video – Admiring the vibes and the mood. The Lemonade Whisky hitting me making me realize what I had done.
– Video – Decided to chill in this area to admire the scenery and my drink.
I was even messaging my situation to VRChat’s Midnight Haven Discord group, eventually deciding to stop sending to them after my trip and during it. We weren’t clicking on what I was sending. I was sharing my images and videos to people as well, even noting it on Twitter.
– Video – Interesting vibes.
– Was curious to see what was inside.
– Basically walking around with a Lemonade Whisky in my hand admiring the view. Slightly buzzed.
– Video – A brief silence.
– Video – Now with atmospheric music. Once again, fitting for VRChat.
– Video – A quick view.
– Video – Viewing a nightly lookout while hearing a helicopter pass by.
Feeling it was time to leave, I left. Now making my slow way back while still sipping on my Lemonade Whisky drink. It’ll be awhile before I actually finish it, still buzzed from it.
– Enoshima Island looking nice at night.
– This image stands out to me the most thanks to Illusion Game’s (now Illgames) Artificial Girl 3 with these vibes. You would see a vending machine on a hill, or in similar scenery to this. I keep making note of this image time and again because of how nostalgic it is, even prior to my visit to Japan.
– Not only is it nostalgic, it also has a nice view behind it.
– A gorgeous nightly view from Enoshima viewing Kamakura area.
– Making my way down some steep steps, Lemonade Whisky still in hand.
– The nightly vibe of Enoshima is awesome. People are gone, the gachas are exposed on the street, and I basically have the street to me. Not fully, but in a 98% manner. A few people were still roaming about.
– Gorgeous!
– Torii gate and Bunny Girl Senpai vibes. 😉
– Like I said, I “almost” had the area to myself. A few stragglers in the area, including myself.
– Yeah, don’t remind me. I’m not allowed to have romance, girls said so. They’re constantly keeping their distance in weird ways. Everything is always my fault, or so people keep claiming and something I keep expecting from people to shame me constantly.
– But I digress, Kamakura is awesome. The whole Fujisawa, Enoshima, & Kamakura area is awesome. The night view is neat.
– The view is awesome, yet these stragglers are annoying me. Way to photobomb me. Rude.
– Let’s just say I was half observant. I desired to take an image of the underpass, not even noticing what was in Kamakura. The sign above (under the red light) shows three forms of transportation. One is to the left, one is straight (Enoshima Station), and another next to it hanging on rails. Zoom in! Take a closer look at the sign.
At this point I notice a glowing Chinese-like design assuming it was a fancy restaurant. I failed to go check up on it. Shame. Either way, this area is awesome.
– One Piece!
Finally finished my Lemonade Whisky, throwing it out at Enoshima Station. Made my way from Enoshima Station to Fujisawa Station all buzzed. Not drunk, just buzzed. It took one hour to get from Fujisawa Station to Ueno.
Making my way through Ueno Station becoming slightly lost. I simply desired to exit in a certain direction finding myself in stupid locations. Nearly ended up in a Shinkansen Area, or something close to it.
– Making note of the wall art.
I even considered eating food here, something I should have done. I wouldn’t be able to eat anywhere else, they ended up closing by the time I got there. One place even kicked me out after having initially allowed me in. Allegedly the kitchen was closed, yet they still allowed me in then kicked me in, very sorry about the situation.
– Pffft! Hololive adult stuff, something I shared to my Mexican friend who was interested in this.
– Adertising truck.
– Eye catching, but I’m not into it. Again, noting it for my Mexican friend.
– A fancy double-layered bike rack. Good luck making it out in its blurriness.
– Making my way down various side streets and main steets to reach my out-of-reach hotel with a stupid bell in the shower.
I dropped by the local 7/11 for some snacks, such as some Tonkatsu and some meals for the next day.
– Tonkatsu bento, Kohiru holding her chopsticks (as she is themed), Sea Candle, Yokosuka, and even garden ticket.
– Steam Deck is off, yet waiting.
I’m happy I managed to achieve what I came out to achieve! WOOO! Yokosuka is now crossed off the list with the military cruise. Then I also admired Kamakura, Enoshima Island, and even evreything before, during, and after. I eventually sobered up, yet became lightly drunk from my Sapporo drinks bought for the night.
Now to prep for the next Yokosuka-Kamakura journey, Part 2! KanColle related! And some Azur Lane, of course! 🙂
Thanks for viewing! Hope to see you in the next blog post.
